Bookface Show-and-Tell

Image
Look what Bookface picked up: Picked this up for 25¢ at a local thrift store. Useful somehow for something (cough cough Freeport cough cough). Oooha! $2, but worth it. Now if only I can find a decent copy of The Monsters of Star Trek . . . Dungeon Roll is a fairly fun push-your-luck dice game. Excellent for solitaire play, too. I didn't back the Kickstarter and picked this up at my LFGS. Oh, and get yourself a playmat printed on a mousepad , too! I know, I know — d20. But it was new in box with the shrink still on it, and there are a handful of web enhancements that were written just for this beginner's box (link to my Dropbox).

Chitin: I Redesigned!

Image
Hey, microgamers! Do you remember Chitin:I ? You know, Metagaming Microgame #2 ? Check out this redesign by Scott Everts : Great googly-moogly! This is a thing of beauty! And don't worry—I've got you covered with the downloads! I've grabbed all the files from Scott's redesign that are posted on Boardgamegeek.com and thrown them in this folder on my Dropbox account.  All told, there are about 100MB of files here, including a HUGE high-resolution map. **Link removed due to DMCA Complaint by Steve Jackson Games on 2018-06-06 regarding a different post.** Be sure to read Scott's thread on how he built this; he includes details about how he mounted the chits on wooden blocks for durability, and even provides links to places online to order them.

The First Bookface of Spring!

Bookface is back, this time with stuff you can download for your game: Arnold K's Book of Mice and Book of Tigers . Definitely check these out. This here is the first issue of Suspense & Decision , a new zine dedicated to play-by-mail gaming. There are four issues out now; go grab and read 'em! These are the three Cloak & Dagger Compendiums available over on Yggdrasil Distro . Each issue deals with a different aspect of thief skills. Not necessarily an RPG-related, but damn are they a great resource. These three plus the next four and so much more can be found here . A Goblin Manifesto! Your Druid needs this. Your Ranger needs this. Your dwarf needs this. Trust me. Bad Mrymidon , by Rafael Chandler , et al. One of the best hexcrawls I've read in a long time. Two interesting micro RPGs from Experimental Playground : Mutants and Machine Guns v2 and Savage Flower Kingdom v2 . M&MG is a post-apocalyptic blend of RPG and wargame whi

Gammarauders (Extremely Tiny) Roleplaying System

Image
In February 2013 I mentioned I had a Gammarauder game box on my shelf. This one: I played this back in high school and I bought the game purely out of nostalgia. This morning I finally sorted through the box contents and verified that I do indeed have a complete set of the game (counting punched chits is a pain in the butt!). I had a $5 off coupon for my neighborhood hardware store, so I grabbed two Plano 3448-60 Utility Boxes to store the chits and game pieces. It's a tight squeeze to get the boxes, the card deck, and the hex boards in the box, but they do fit. I was also reading up on Boardgamegeek.com and Wikipedia that DC Comics had produced a 10-issue run of comics based on the game. Wikipedia revealed that in issues 1, 3, & 4 of the comic there was a d6-based mini-RPG called Gammarauders (Extremely Tiny) Roleplaying System ! I had never heard of this before so I turned to The Google and tracked down (ahem) fan-scanned issues to take a look at the game sys

Melee! Redesigned

Image
Last year I pointed out that some dude had re-themed Barbarian Prince . I've discovered another classic micro-game that has been re-themed. Lads & lasses, check out Kwanchai Moriya's Melee re-design : Check out more pictures here . I've gathered all the files from the Boardgamegeek.com Melee file section and threw them together in a zip file so you can download, print, and assemble a version of the game for your own pleasure. ** Link removed due to DMCA Complain from Steve Jackson Games on 2018-06-06**. Kwanchai has also redesigned several other games . Steve Jackson Games forced him to remove his OGRE redesign from circulation , but if you really want it, hit me up via email and I can forward you the files.  ** No longer available due to the above complaint from Steve Jackson Games -- removed to avoid further takedown notices.**
